The lackluster start that defined Mega Man for a generation of children. Planned as a jumping on the bandwagon cash-grab with merchandising, manga, and anime by Capcom, the heart of the series shined through its development staff and into its many fans. Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star (AKA Mega Man Battle Network OSS) is an advanced port of the first Mega Man Battle Network on the Nintendo DS with a few Mega Man Star Force content added in. The game saw many minor changes from the original GBA version for a more welcoming game experience. Its extra mode, Rockman Star Colosseum, is a fleshed out mini-game that entirely takes place in the game's field setting.

The game’s 9 story chapters are denoted by these respective bosses at the end:
