Style Change (スタイルチェンジ) is the main transformation system of Mega Man Battle Network 2. MegaMan will receive his first Style Change in Chapter 4, during ShadowMan's stage. Up to 2 Styles can be stored at a time.
How to Obtain
During battle, depending on actions you perform, a number of Action Points will go towards the different Styles. The Style that has the most accumulated Action Points at the end of a battle will gain 1 Style Point.
If multiple Styles had the same highest value, all those Styles gain 1 Style Point. If all Styles got 0 Action Points (e.g. when you flinched at least once and killed all enemies with at most 1 non-NaviChip and/or elemental B Button PowerAttacks), then all Styles gain 1 Style Point. There is no cap to the amount of Style Points that can be accumulated.
During the next Style Change opportunity, MegaMan will transform into the Style that accumulated the most Style Points. However, if the Style Point count comes to a tie, the game will prioritize based on the order: Shield > Team > Custom > Guts.
The element MegaMan gets with the Style is random. Once MegaMan encounters 280 battles with a reward screen, he will receive a new Style Change the next time he wins a battle with a results screen. Battles that MegaMan loses or runs away from also count towards the 280 battles.
- If MegaMan already encountered 280 battles before getting his first Style, the Style Point count will stop.
Styles can be leveled up into higher Versions and increase their B Button PowerAttack. This requires finishing non-story battles in the Style, the number required is dependent on the Style type.
Elements
There are 4 possible elements for a Style to have. The Style's element determines MegaMan's new B Button PowerAttack. The attack power is dependent on the Style’s Version. There is also 1 special BattleChip that MegaMan can use if he's a specific element.

You can trade Styles in the Network menu. If you trade the same Style to each other, MegaMan will comment on it.
- In the Legacy Collection, Hub Style can no longer be traded to another player.

Trivia
- If MegaMan already has Hub Style (from trading) when he hasn't obtained Hub Style in his game normally yet, another Style Change into Hub Style can occur. When you accept, depending on which Style you choose to overwrite, one of two things can happen:
- If you overwrite the existing Hub Style, it will instead be deleted and Hub Style will be lost. If you are already in Hub Style, you will stay in Hub Style until you switch to a different Style from the MegaMan screen, at which point Hub Style will be lost.
- If you overwrite your other Style, that Style will simply be deleted and you keep Hub Style.
