Rockman EXE 4.5: Real Operation builds upon Battle Network 4's special Operation Battle mode. The game does not follow Lan Hikari and Mega Man, but instead your own experience with a NetNavi of your choice. Using real-time clock based events, unique dialogue for all navis, and a more hands-on battle system, it truly takes hold of its "Real Operation" name.

The game received an extra release as Rockman EXE 4.5: Real Operation - Battle Chip Gate Bundle. It came with a Battle Chip Gate Blues Ver. and 5 Battle Chips: GutPnch1, Z Saver, RollAro1, Marking, StarMan Navi Data Chip (different art from the Navi Data Chip pack).
