W Slot

The W Slot[1], read as "Double Slot" (Wスロット/ダブルスロット), also known as Double Slot In (Wスロットイン/ダブルスロットイン[2]), is a function for the Nintendo DS games that can unlock bonus features if a certain Game Boy Advance game pak is in the Slot-2 of the DS.

Mega Man Battle Network 5: Double Team DS

If BN5DS is started up with a Mega Man Battle Network or Boktai game pak in Slot-2, additional features become unlocked. Unless stated otherwise, the effects of the W Slot only remain while the game is slot in.

BassXX

Due to the removal of Card e-Reader access, the method to encounter BassXX has been changed. It now requires:

  • Slot in MMBN1, MMBN2, MMBN3 (any version), MMBN4 (any version) and MMBN5 (any version) into the GBA slot. Save after inserting each one. If you're playing the Japanese version, you must also slot in EXE4.5.
  • Defeat Bassβ.
  • Must be in BassCross MegaMan or SolCross MegaMan form.

The BassXX encounter will replace BassΩ in Nebula Area 6. This encounter can be LocEnemy, then players can fight BassXX using non-Cross MegaMan in later encounters.

Mega Man Battle Network

AKA Mega Man Battle Network 1.

  • ProtoMan / Colonel's special chips are boosted up to +100 in Liberation Missions depending on story progress. This effect remains during the liberation even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • Virus battle music becomes a remix of BN1's virus battle music.
  • In Undernet 4, a HeelNavi offers an Extra Folder, DuelFolder. This folder is intended to be a starter set-up for multiplayer Network Duels. This NPC stays even if the Game Pak is pulled out.

Mega Man Battle Network 2

  • MagnetMan / KnightMan's special chips are boosted up to +100 in Liberation Missions depending on story progress. This effect remains during the liberation even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • Virus battle music becomes a remix of BN2's virus battle music.
  • In Dad's Lab, a 50% off SubChip merchant appears. This NPC stays even if the Game Pak is pulled out.

Mega Man Battle Network 3 White / Blue

  • GyroMan / ShadowMan's special chips are boosted up to +100 in Liberation Missions depending on story progress. This effect remains during the liberation even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • Virus battle music becomes a remix of BN3's virus battle music.
  • In End Area 1, a Program Dealer appears with exclusive Programs. This NPC stays even if the Game Pak is pulled out. None of these parts were available in the GBA version.

Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun/Blue Moon

  • NapalmMan / TomahawkMan's special chips are boosted up to +100 in Liberation Missions depending on story progress. This effect remains during the liberation even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • Virus battle music becomes a remix of BN4's virus battle music.
  • In the BBS boards, Program Advance combinations are posted. The messages stay even if the Game Pak is pulled out.

Rockman EXE 4.5 Real Operation

JP game only. AKA Mega Man Battle Network 4.5:[3].

  • SearchMan / NumberMan's special chips are boosted up to +100 in Liberation Missions depending on story progress. This effect remains during the liberation even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • Virus battle music becomes a remix of EXE4.5's virus battle music.
  • In Lan's HP, a golden Mr. Prog gives a side quest that can be completed for a prize of 50,000z. This NPC and the quest stays even if the Game Pak is pulled out.

Mega Man Battle Network 5 Team ProtoMan/Team Colonel

  • (JP) Both Team ProtoMan and Team Colonel Slot-2 feature boosts Meddy / ToadMan's special chips +100 in Liberation Missions depending on story progress. This effect remains during the liberation even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • (EN) Team ProtoMan Slot-2 feature boosts SearchMan / NumberMan's special chips +100 in Liberation Missions depending on story progress. This effect remains during the liberation even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • (EN) Team Colonel Slot-2 feature boosts Meddy / ToadMan's special chips +100 in Liberation Missions depending on story progress. This effect remains during the liberation even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • The equipped Folder in the Slot-2 game can be imported to the DS version as an Extra Folder, BN5Fldr. Opposite version Gigas will also transfer over. As it's an Extra Folder, the Regular Chip will not registered.
  • If the Slot-2 Game Pak has a story complete icon on the title screen for the opposite version of the game; A TP Chip is sent in an E-mail without clearing the opposite save in the DS game.
    • Due to a glitch, if the GBA Game Pak has no save (only New Game, no Continue at all), it will count and give TP Chip.
  • If the Slot-2 Game Pak has a Bass mark on the title screen; When you start up a game, a prompt will ask to activate BassCross MegaMan.
    • Due to a glitch, if the GBA Game Pak has no save (only New Game, no Continue at all), it will count and give BassCross MegaMan.
  • Higsby's Chip Shop's Free Space will open up and offer opposite version V1 Navi Chips for purchase depending on your progression through the story. This stays even if the Game Pak is pulled out.

Boktai: The sun is in your hands

AKA Boktai 1.

  • Otenko's Challenge (1000 bats minigame) replaces the samurai minigame at End City. Crossover Points earned is the number of bats hit divided by 30.
  • Zoktai Trader appears in Oran Area 2. The Trader stays even if the Game Pak is pulled out.

Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django

  • Otenko's Challenge (1000 bats minigame) replaces the samurai minigame at End City. Crossover Points earned is the number of bats hit divided by 20.
  • Zoktai Trader appears in Oran Area 2. The Trader stays even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • (EN) When you start up a game, a prompt will ask to activate SolCross MegaMan.

Shin Bokura no Taiyoh Gyakushuu no Sabata

JP game only. AKA Boktai 3[4].

  • Otenko's Challenge (1000 bats minigame) replaces the samurai minigame at End City. Crossover Points earned is the number of bats hit divided by 10.
  • Zoktai Trader appears in Oran Area 2. The Trader stays even if the Game Pak is pulled out.
  • When you start up a game, a prompt will ask to activate SolCross MegaMan.

Mega Man Star Force 1

This bonus feature will unlock by having any Mega Man Battle Network game in Slot-2.

The quest begins in Doghouse Comp (Echo Ridge). Mega Man must find a Jammer, which can be found in Statue Comp at Vista Point. Completing the quest gives the B. Net Blaster Mega Weapon (Stats: 1/5/1).

Mega Man Star Force 2

This bonus feature will unlock by having any Mega Man Battle Network game in Slot-2.

The quest begins with a an E-Mail from the Satella PD. Mega Man can then find boxes of text data in EM Spaces which contains Lan Hikari's diary. Collecting all diary entries gives a Lan E-Mail with the B. Net Blaster Mega Weapon (Stats: 1/5/1).
