How to Access

To start, all 5 Stars must be present next to CONTINUE. Highlight NEW GAME and input the button command: L L R L R L R R. Pressing the orange NEW GAME will begin Hard Mode. Saving in Hard Mode will make a CONT. HARD on the title screen. This is a second save file that won't affect your CONTINUE file.

Starting a New Game in Normal Mode will not delete the Hard Mode file. Inputting the code and doing the process again starts a New Game to overwrite an existing Hard Mode save.

Completing the story in Hard Mode will award a special congratulations image, and the CONTINUE file will receive 1 Sanctuary chip. Hard Mode can go achieve Normal Mode's goals to receive Stars, but Stars will not appear next to CONT. HARD.

Changes from Normal Mode

  • Every enemy has 50% more HP.
    • Mole1 now has 15 HP but can only be attacked 10 times before escaping. The only way to defeat Mole1 in Hard Mode is using the Whirlpool or Blackhole chips, the whirlpool will insta-delete any virus.
    • BassDelux’s HP is unaltered at 2000 HP.
  • All damage to MegaMan deals an additional 50%. This includes attacks where he damages himself.
  • Network menu cannot be accessed.
    • While connections with other BN2s is severed, the Retro Chip Trader is still active.
  • A number of mandatory virus battles in the story have been changed.
