Mega Man Star Force is the first game of the series to succeed Mega Man Battle Network. In this further futuristic setting, the game utilizes friendship as the Brother Band system. This single player and multi-player aspect becomes an integral part for Mega Man's progression through the story and through the gameplay.

In Japan, early purchasers received a plastic replica of Geo’s pendant that can light up. However, due to safety issues, the pendant was recalled and could be traded in for clear file folders instead.

In North America, Dragon version was GameStop exclusive.

The game’s 7 story chapters are denoted by these respective bosses at the end:

  1. Taurus Fire
  2. Cygnus Wing
  3. Harp Note
  4. Libra Scales
  5. Queen Ophiuca
  6. Gemini Spark
  7. Final Boss
