We’re now only two short weeks away from the release of Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection! Ahead of the game’s release, Capcom has published an Official Web Manual for the two volumes, featuring many details about the game’s systems and plenty of fresh screenshots.

Long-time fans will already be familiar with how the games work, but there are some new details about the Legacy Collection’s new online features which can be gleamed from the manual!
When searching for a Ranked Match opponent online, you’ll first have to choose if you want to be Host or Guest. (Some attack behaviors differ slightly depending on this setting.) Along with choosing Host/Guest, you’re also asked to choose a message. Afterwards, the game will prioritize matching you with an opponent of a similar rank. However, if you’re unable to find an opponent for a long time, the search criteria will gradually be expanded.
In case of a Private Match, you’ll be able to enter a Room Code of 6 digits to be matched with other players who chose the same Room Code, and you’ll be able to select your opponent from the list. In a Public Match, your opponent will be decided automatically.
Additionally, some battle modes from the original games seem to have been left out in the collection. These are:
- MMBN3: Lightweight/Midweight/Heavyweight can no longer be chosen by the player.
- MMBN3: Tournament mode (69 battles in a row) is not selectable.
- MMBN6: Random Battle (battle with a randomized Folder) is not available.
For other game modes such as trading and comparing records, the connection works similarly. In case of a trade, you can choose the Chip or Program you want to trade upfront, and you’ll then be able to choose from a list of other items people have offered for trade.
Finally, the whole list of online ranks has now been revealed, along with the conditions for ranking up and down.
